Blackwater Writing Project

June 14, 2007

Okay, I beat you Sonya on being late to join the blog!

I just took a shower because I was all sweaty and icky from working on the house and logged on to take a look at what you all were up to tonight.

Alright, so funny stories... well all I can think about is what just happened a couple of hours ago. Kind of funny, but I can't think of anything else, and I still need to finish my rough draft of my grant and read for tomorrow's reading group...

My sister and I were next door working on my new home. It is older and needs some renovation before I move in to it which is why we were over there tonight with crow bars in hand. Yes, Sasha Reed had an unfamiliar weapon in her hand and should have known trouble would come of it. So, here we were using our trustful weapons to pry the old moldings off the walls. All was going well until Dad walked in and like all Dads (or at least mine) he had something to say about the size of my crow bar. "Why are you using this. It's too big. You're going to ruin the dry wall. Don't worry, I'll go and get something better for you to use." Well after he left, I got back to work using what I had been using. That is until I became nervous that he would return and see me using the tool he told me not to (although, it is my house), and I put the crow bar back down. This is when I had the brilliant idea I would just start yanking it off with my bare hand (yes, purposefully singular because of my Captain Hook tendency). It was tougher than I expected, so I stepped over in front of the vertical strip on the corner, sucked in a deep breath for strength, and yanked with all my might. My sister couldn't stop laughing and after a stunned moment, I couldn't either - the molding had split in half in just the right location to come flying back at me to smack me in the forehead. Right now, I still have the red mark on my forehead. If it is still there by tomorrow, I'll have a good Sasha Reed story to go with it.

  • You're going to have your own Sasha Reed Adventure Book before long. I just wanted you to feel better because you weren't the latest one to log in. I don't think it's right that we still had to write, but we didn't get any of the cake and coffee--not even the virtual kind.

  • Ha! That sounds like something I would do! Boy, I'm glad I'm not the only person capable of such grace!
