Clean for a Moment (funny occurrences)

A clean car is always followed by an endless gray sky filled with enough precipitation to add spots to a fresh shine. Georgia has experienced the worst drought in fifty years. Churches began to hold prayer sessions to bring rain. Farmers made plans to sell livestock. Corn shadows were not stretching as far as the year before. Once watery pond rims were filled with chlorophyll gleaming plant life and cracked earth. Then came the day to wash the car. Road scum flowed to the ground replaced by my reflection. Droplets of water then erased with a towel followed by the wind as I drove around the block. Suddenly they reappeared as the grey clouds chased in the rearview mirror, downpour seconds later, previous efforts lost to an occurrence that had not happened in two months. The tradition continues.

  • Well, I wish you would wash your car some more. We still have a rain deficit, and really, I'm fine with you being the one who has to sacrifice for the farmers (grin).

  • I liked this. My favorite sentence was "Road scum flowed to the ground replaced by my reflection." I'm glad you came to City Market. :-)
