MIsconceptions about me
I think a lot of people look at me and assume I am a gruff, gorilla of a man. I don’t think they initially feel that I have a sense of humor or am even that cordial. It doesn’t take long though for them to realize that I have a decent personality. Having moved around a lot through out my life, I have learned to make friends with people pretty quickly. It probably helps that I love a good joke even when I am the brunt of it. Funny is funny. That’s always been my rule. As long as it doesn’t hurt someone or leave them scared for life, it’s all fair. I love to ride my motorcycle and dress the part. If I had it my way, I would wear overalls and my boots all the time. I’m not really in to the whole leather thing because it’s entirely too hot. I always love the look I get from families riding along in their van. Inevitably I’ll always get stopped by the red light right next to a van or SUV full of kids. The kids always rush over to the window to look at the motorcycle, and mom is always yelling at them to “look away,” as one mom yelled, or to stop staring. It’s funny to me that she is always taking a second or third look to determine if I’ve pulled out the gun yet. In all fairness, it’s impossible not to judge a book by its cover. The basic nature of all people is to form judgments and opinions. The sad part is that a lot of people haven’t been around enough different types of people to make fair judgments. They tend to over-generalize or assume that all people who look the same are going to believe and act the same way. Don’t get me wrong, profiling is not always a bad thing. I think it should be used in certain cases. It does get you into trouble though once you lock into misconceptions.

Okay, let me try that again. I don't think you look scary.
But then again, to an eight-year old, you might be.

I would never look at someone funny for riding motorcycles. I'm a little afraid of them, even though my Dad had me on one (my own dirtbike even) from a VERY young age.

Um, you are kind of a gruff gorilla, but gorillas can be fun.
