Mirror, Mirror
The Mirror, Mirror
shielding the soul
does his best to only show
the many lies that others see.
How quickly he makes them forget
what lies beneath.
What he shows is just
so easier to believe.
It’s so easy to conform,
so tempting to just fall in,
step through that looking glass
and become one with fantasy.
But, it is only to the keenest eye
who will take the time
that the flaws are revealed.
The true nature of the soul
will then shine through and
shatter free.

My favorite part is the phrase "shatter free." I like the juxtaposition of freedom and brokenness. It surprises me and intrigues me.

I know you said this was one of your first attempts at poetry, but I think it's great. The imagery you use is intense.
