wow. I am certainly proud to hear you are making a difference in students lives. I have to keep reminding myself that if I can make a difference in just one... It's worth it. I know we can't save them all, but even if it's one. I loved the quote "I'm glad they're pissed off." I had to go tto court for a student that dropped a bunch of weed on my floor last month, and while I was there, I saw about 13 of my students. They were all running around smiling. Thier parents, or in many cases thier grandparents, were there too, sitting and chatting like it was a family reunion. I was amazed at how desensitized they all were to being in court. It all seemed common place to them. The student I was there for couldn't even look me in the eye. I was glad that he seemed embarrased that I was there. He knew he had let me down. I wish he would have had that same feeling for his mother. As always, I am proud to know you. HATCH

I've read the article twice. I can't imagine losing a student that way. I'm sorry.
I'm proud you're affiliated with me through VSU, through the Writing Center, through Blackwater Writing Project.
You rock.
