Christmas in Jail
This past Christmas was the first Christmas I shared with Jeremy. However, he didn’t get to experience the true feeling of Christmas at my house. On Christmas Eve night, Jeremy had to work. He basically got his uniform on, all but his gunbelt, and got in bed with his radio beside him. They told him the roads would probably be dead anyways and they would just call him out if there was a crash he needed to work. He had to leave to go work a crash around 2am, and he got back around 4am. When he got home, my brother, Ryan, was in severe pain. He was coughing up blood. Ryan wanted to wait until the morning to go to the doctor. Daddy took him to the doctor first thing Christmas morning, and we didn’t even open presents until that night around 7. That was the first time that Ryan felt good enough to open them. I did get to do something fun though! I was so down in the dumps about my brother being sick. However we got a phone call that Jeremy had to go to work. I was upset at first, but then I got invited to do with him! I got to go with Jeremy to the hospital to serve a warrant to arrest somebody that was in the hospital. That was fun. He had to work a crash the night before because this guy was drunk. So we had to go to the hospital and as soon as the drunk guy was released on Christmas day, BAM in the slammer. What an awesome Christmas gift, huh?

I have a visual of you being all excited and giddy to arrest this guy! Too funny!

Being a trooper's wife is always fun on holidays. If he is schedule to work, he stays at home unless something else happens. However, you can't really relax because you know there is a chance of him being called out. But, there are definitely worse things - like if he wasn't able to be with you at all. I know this Christmas will be a fabulous Christmas as Mr and Mrs Swain!

Hahaha! I don't know how I didn't know this story... where was I? Oh yeah... in the secluded woods of the Davis family farm in Baxley with no oustide connection to the real world! ; ) What the heck was wrong with Ryan???

So I kind of expected to see you in your cop uniform, pulling a guy's arms into handcuffs. You go, Officer Goble!

I don't know if this is just because you were writing the story as it first came to your head, and I don't know what relation Ryan is to you, (I have a Ryan for a brother so I thought you had one named Ryan too) but I liked how you juxtaposed those two sentences--the one about your dad taking him to the doctor on Christmas morning and your obvious disappointment over having to wait all day for presentes. It lets me know that Ryan was OK so it's alright to be annoyed over waiting for presents... as if he planned it. Very funny! And how cool is it that you got to serve a warrant?! Wicked cool.

I think it's so funny that you were so excited about serving an arrest warrant! My dad was a police officer, and I wanted to be one too so I could put people in jail for the fun of it! I wonder if the desire to lock people up is a BWP thing!
