Children's Books
I love children's books. People say that I spend all of my time in Books-A-Million and The Learning Tree. My favorite author right now is (Eric Carle). I like his books because you can do almost anything with them. You can read for fluency, read for understanding, teach a science or math lesson, or just read for fun. The illustrations are awesome. Very child friendly. So, I'm stocking up on anything Eric Carle.
One of my other favorites is Mercer Mayer. The characters are wondrously illustrated. The stories are easy for kids to read and follow. He's been one of my favorite author's since college.
I like Dr. Seuss, but in moderation. Too much Dr. Seuss will make your head spin and give you a bad headache.
Some of my favorite children's books:
1. Sylvester and the Magic Pebble
2. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar
4. Duck for President
5. The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs
6. Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears
7. Frindle
8. Chocolate Fever
9. Freckle Juice

I especially like The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. That's a fun activity in any class, reading the book and then taking the same perspective to another classic.
