I was talking to a teacher that I worked with at CES last night and she reminded me that I have so much to do...she told me that she was watching 27 dresses with her daughter...all I could do was roll my eyes and let out a huff. In case you didn't know, that movie is a memoir to me. It's about me. I have been in so many weddings. My closet looks like Bill Levkoff threw up in it. I will be in a wedding in August and another wedding in September, both of which I am extremely honored and excited to be in. The August wedding will make wedding number 9 for me and the September wedding will made wedding number 10 and then my wedding is in November (keep in mind this has all occurred over a 6 year period). Hey, at least I’m making progress now and upgrading with each wedding. In August, I’m just a regular ole bridesmaid, in September I’m the maid of honor and in November I’m the stinkin’ BRIDE! Now that's progress! If I weren't getting married in November I would probably be frustrated and have the whole "always a bridesmaid never a bride" thing flashing in my head as I walk down the aisle! It is starting to be a joke how many weddings I have been in. People are going to start thinking that I am for hire or something. I only agree to do it because these wonderful girls are all my awesome friends and I love them dearly. Can you actually tell someone “no” when they ask you to be in their wedding? To be quite honest, the wedding fanfare all starts getting a little monotonous. Every wedding ends up mostly being like the last. They all have the same parties and events, although some are more fun than others. You know how it’s a bride or a bridesmaid’s worst fear to fall while they are walking down the aisle? Now that I think about it, I may fall on purpose in one of these weddings coming up, just to get a thrill, because simply doing the whole hair, dress, and shoes thing just isn't doing it for me anymore.

  • Okay, so have you had to leave one wedding to make it to another?? And, just like the movie says, no one can EVER wear the bridesmaid dresses again. What are yours going to look like? Are you trying to make them usable or are you going all out and making them the traditional type?

  • I would love to know just how much money you have spent over the past six years in all of the bridesmaid weddings. I've decided I'm done with that. I've been in four and that's enough for me. Unless it's one of my BFF's. I'm telling you, I spent like close to $500 bucks last November on a wedding I was in. Dress, shoes, shower gifts, throwing showers, bachelorette party, etc. Ugh. That's a lot of money.

  • Aren't you glad you've already found someone who can do your groom's cake???

Seriously, I laughed when you read this this morning. Flashes of Sweet Home Alabama and My Best Friend's Wedding were going through my head.

  • Alison, mine are going to be fairly usable I think. They can cut them off to tea length and wear them to other weddings. They are the chiffon material so they aren't so "bridesmaidsey."

Lindsi, I am very please that I have found such a wonderful groom's cake maker! I just hope you don't slap me after you finish pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into it! :P

  • You are a great free writer. It seems effortless when you write. I usually have to sit, talk out loud, and argue with myself for a while before I am satisfied with anything. So, your wedding is in five months and your wedding to-do list is giving me anxiety. I can only imagine how you feel!
    One word: Elope!
